Symphony of the Dead” is a widely read and critically acclaimed novel by Abbas Maroufi. One of its most distinctive features is its deep and realistic character development. The author has carefully crafted his fictional characters to closely resemble real human personalities, making them highly relatable and believable.
This study examines the novel’s characters through the lens of Enneagram personality theory, which categorizes individuals based on core motivations and behaviors. The findings indicate that the characters in this novel align significantly with real psychological personality types. This resemblance enhances their authenticity, allowing readers to recognize familiar traits in them.
By depicting characters that reflect modern individuals in contemporary society, Maroufi strengthens the reader’s sense of identification and empathy. This emotional connection is one of the key reasons for the novel’s popularity. Readers engage deeply with the characters, as they encounter personalities that mirror real-life individuals.
In this research, the author classifies and compares characters based on the frequency of traits associated with each Enneagram type. Through this method, the study categorizes the characters and provides a detailed analysis of their psychological features.
Ultimately, this structured approach highlights how the novel’s well-developed characters contribute to its impact, making it a compelling and immersive literary work.
